Objectives
To provide basic theoretical background on molecular biology and further understand PCR and other related molecular techniques as applied to the diagnosis of infectious diseases.
Competencies being acquired
Lecture:
Understanding the fundamental concepts in molecular biology, describing the steps in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) as a dignostic tool for infectious diseases and learning Quality Assurance practices and othder considerations in setting up a PCR laboratory.
