To further increase the national capacity for COVID-19 testing, additional testing laboratories are currently being established by the government as well as the private sector. As the National Reference Laboratory, RITM is continuously providing technical support in the form of laboratory assessments, technical training and provision of proficiency testing panels for Real-Time PCR detection of SARS-CoV-2

The training is comprised of lectures and hands-on laboratory work on Real-time PCR detection of SARS-CoV-2. This course is designed for the laboratory staff who are tasked to perform molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 by Real-Time PCR in their respective institutions.

  1. Relevant Epidemiology and Virology of SARS-CoV-2
  2. Laboratory Workflow for the Molecular Detection of SARS-CoV-2
  3. Real-Time PCR: Analysis, Interpretation and Quality Control
  4. Real-Time PCR: Troubleshooting
  5. Quality Assurance for PCR laboratories
  6. Laboratory demonstrations and hands-on on:
    a) Nucleic acid extraction
    b) Mastermix preparation
    c) Initiation of PCR run
