Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), as a National Reference Laboratory is mandated to provide training and capacity building for clinicians, medical technologists, laboratory staff, researchers, research staff and other allied health care professionals to ensure that the knowledge and skills for the diagnosis, control and prevention of infectious and tropical diseases reach the country’s health responders.

Furthermore, the Department of Health (DOH) authorized Research Institute for Tropical Medicine to designate and certify training providers capacitating licensed COVID-19 testing laboratories, including training for new techniques such as pooled testing, and providing the requisite training for laboratories securing license-to-operate as COVID-19 testing laboratories.
