Objectives
At the end of the training, participants should be able to:
- 1. Understand the immunopathogenesis and virologic, immunologic and clinical course of HIV infection;
2. Know the different clinical conditions associated with HIV disease as well as the appropriate treatment and prevention;
3. Understand the psychosocial consequences and issues related to HIV and AIDS;
4. Know the principles and strategies on the holistic management of patients with HIV and AIDS;
5. Gain the knowledge and skill to manage PLHIV using ART;
6. Demonstrate skills on Pre-Art and follow-up adherence counseling;
7. Understand the concept and importance of customer service.
Competencies being acquired
At the end of the training, participants should be able to:
- 1. Initiate and monitor antiretroviral therapy;
2. Administer prophylaxis against opportunistic infection;
3. Have a knowledge on the screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infection;
4. Have a knowledge on the screening and treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis;
5. Adhere counselling
