Rationale/Background:
The training is intended to provide participants knowledge on the current rabies situation in the Philippines, updates on management of human rabies, animal bites and adverse reactions to vaccination, updates on rabies diagnosis and on-going control programs in the Philippines and cold chain management, The training also aims to improve the participants’ proficiency in intradermal administration of rabies vaccine and in the administration of rabies immunegobulin

  7. Laboratory Diagnosis of Rabies
  8. Rabies Act Management of Adverse Reactions
  9. Management of Rabies in Humans Post
  10. Exposure Prophylaxis Failures
  11. ABTC Certification Recording and Reporting Forms

Outputs Expected/Competency Gained:

  1. Recognizing and categorizing rabies exposures
  2. Decision making for common scenarios of post exposure prophylaxis and indications for pre-exposure prophylaxis
  3. Management of adverse reactions

Skill in the following:

  1. Intradermal injection
  2. Administration of rabies immuneglobulin

IMPORTANT NOTICE
The new WHO and DOH guidelines on animal bite management were released in 2018. All health workers who have undergone Animal Bite Training before February 2018 need to undergo a refresher course.
