
The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine and Tohoku University Collaborating Research Center for Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases (RITM-TOHOKU) conducted its Annual Research Forum on January 29, 2020 at the RITM Training Center Auditorium.
In her opening remarks, RITM Assistant Director Dr. Beatriz Quiambao acknowledged the 12-year collaboration of RITM and the Department of Virology, Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine that has produced quality science researches through the years.
Tohoku and RITM researchers presented updates on their data from the past year, as well as the results of their respective studies.
Distinguished Officials from the Japan Embassy graced the event as guest of honors. Doctors from Tarlac Provincial Hospital, Biliran Provincial Hospital and other partner institutions also attended the event.
The RITM-TOHOKU was established in April 2008 with the objectives of conducting epidemiological analysis of major infectious diseases in the Philippines, and strengthening the capacity of RITM’s National Reference Laboratories in the identification of causative agents of infectious tropical diseases in the country.
