
In support of the conduct of the fourth batch of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination Days,” the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), through its COVID-19 Vaccination Team, administered 146 COVID-19 vaccine jabs in Sto. Tomas, Batangas and Dolores, Quezon last March 10-12, 2022.
The RITM Vaccination Team was specifically deployed to the Padre Pio Shrine in Sto. Tomas, Batangas last March 10 and 12, and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows in Dolores, Quezon last March 11. The Pfizer, Sinovac, and Janssen vaccines administered were all from the local government units (LGUs).
The RITM Vaccination Team was organized as augmentation to the vaccine operations of the LGUs of the aforementioned areas. The fourth batch of the National Vaccinations Days aimed to administer primary vaccination dose series to remaining senior citizens (Priority Group A2), and minors aged 12-17 (Priority Group C), and booster doses to remaining healthcare workers (HCWs).
As of March 12, the RITM Vaccination Team has already administered 4,103 jabs during their outside deployment for the National Vaccination Days.
For their next deployment, the RITM Vaccination Team hopes to reach more priority provinces and administer more jabs.
“It is important that locals participate in the National Vaccination Days to ensure that everyone is protected. No one should be left behind. We are one in the mission to have all Filipinos vaccinated against COVID-19 so that herd immunity can be achieved,” emphasized RITM Nursing Supervisor Ms. Florence Pegollo on the importance of community participation to National Vaccination Days.
The RITM Vaccination Team deployed for the fourth batch of the National Vaccination Days is comprised of Dr. Ferdinand Barrias, Dr. Maria Liezl Protusada, Chelsea Paras, Florence Pegollo, Maejoy Solas, Francis Mae Alloso, Nikka Martinez, Raquel Gonzales, Marife Concillado, Rosemarie Bautista, Bernardino Darantinao, Richard Galera, Precious Nicolas, and CJ Niguid. Dr. Joanne de Jesus-Cornejo served as the RITM National Vaccination Days coordinator.
