
The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Cybersecurity Bureau led the conduct of a two-day cybersecurity orientation for employees of the Department of Health (DOH) on May 21-22 at Red Hotel, Cubao, Quezon City.
Information Technology Department Information Technology Staff Ryan Justine Mondero and Network Administrator Ireneo Francisco, and Communication and Engagement Office’s Science Research Analyst Mark Elwin Elizon attended the orientation on May 21. The Knowledge Management Information Technology Service (KMITS) facilitated the orientation. DOH employees are considered as the first line of defense in protecting the ICT infrastructure of the agency from cybersecurity threats.
KMITS Information Technology Infrastructure Security Division (ITISD) Chief Engineer Robert Manuel and Information Technology Officer Joel Arias presented the DOH Cybersecurity Strategy. The succeeding lectures were focused on instilling proper awareness and fundamental understanding of cybersecurity threats and attacks among the attendees. The orientation was concluded with a demo on open source tools for safeguarding the ICT environment and an Open Forum led by KMITS and DICT.
The May 21 orientation was dedicated for technical personnel (KMITS, Metro Manila CHDs and Hospitals) and web content managers, while May 22 was saved for non-technical staff (DOH personnel, Metro Manila CHDs and Hospitals).
