RITM, through its Health Emergency Management Office (HEMO), joins the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month, starting with the conduct of a Basic Life Support refresher course on July 11, 2019 at the Training Center.

With this year’s theme “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago,” the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) calls for action among national agencies and local government units to implement disaster resilience campaigns that would increase public awareness on the importance of disaster risk reduction and management.

It’s important that we take part in the activities in observance of National Disaster Month as an Institution. It keeps us aware of the importance of preparedness and readiness for disaster. Yearly, we get reminded that as a nation, it is our responsibility to be prepared and ready whether there’s a disaster or not,” says HEMO Head Dr. Melinda Sweet Lovely Razalan on the significance of the observance of the NDRM celebration.

Still in line with the celebration, HEMO will be participating in the Mass CPR Campaign to be held in the Mall of Asia on July 16, and here at RITM on July 17, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Residence Hall Lobby. There will also be showing of disaster-related films from July-15-19, from 1:00 pm onward at the RITM Auditorium. Lastly, HEMO will also be conducting the first RITM Skills Benchmarking Competition on July 30, from 8:00 am to 12:00 nn at the RITM Grounds.

Outside the NDRM celebration, HEMO also regularly conducts various capacity building activities to ensure that RITM is prepared and ready in case of a disaster, such as the monthly Basic Life Support Training and Standard First Aid Training for employees.
