Fact Sheet: Lichen Simplex Chronicus

Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC), also known as Neurodermatitis, is a skin condition that starts with a patch of itchy skin then thickens with variable scaling that arises secondary to repetitive scratching or rubbing. Scratching makes it even itchier. This itch-scratch cycle causes the affected skin to become thick and leathery (lichenification).
