Entom, VRD train DOH-BOQ officers on vector control, management

The RITM Departments of Medical Entomology and Veterinary Research (VRD) trained two batches of Vector Control Officers (VCOs) last June 18-21 and June 25-27, 2019 at the Tagaytay Country Hotel.

Each batch comprised 21 VCOs from the Department of Health – Bureau of Quarantine (DOH-BOQ) on vector surveillance, prevention, and control for mosquitoes and rodents

The trainings were facilitated by VRD Head Dr. Fedelino F. Malbas and Medical Entomology staff Wilfredo Aure, Mary Ann Ammugauan, Christian Paul Salamante, and Leah Antoinette Olaso.

Entom and VRD is set to conduct the training annually to highlight the roles of global travel and trade, unplanned urbanization, and environmental challenges in the transmission of pathogens and in the emergence of diseases.
