DOH-MIMAROPA awards RITM for contribution in fight against Malaria

The Department of Health MIMAROPA Region awarded RITM a plaque of appreciation for its unwavering commitment and invaluable support to the malaria program in MIMAROPA Region.

The DOH MIMAROPA Region, in collaboration with the Provincial Health office of Palawan and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. conducted the 1st Regional and 10th Malaria Congress with the theme “Ready to Beat Malaria” as part of the celebration for the National Malaria Awareness Month. Participants from various government and non government offices also pledged their efforts to beat malaria by 2025.

Representatives from the Medical Entomology Department received the award during the Gala Night on November 22, 2018 at the City State Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa, Plawan. Mr. Gil V. Gacita, a staff from the RITM Medical Entomology Department-Palawan Satellite Laboratory, also received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his more than 30 years of service in the Malaria program.

The RITM Medical Entomology Department-Palawan Satellite Laboratory also showcased malaria vectors and entomological researches conducted in Palawan in an exhibit booth.

A competition for best photo exhibit, comics, malaria jingle composition, and puppet show with the theme “Ready to Beat Malaria” was also announced at the Congress.
