RITM as the National Vaccine Store for Children Immunization
In a bid to reduce mortality and morbidity among children against vaccine-preventable diseases, the Department of Health is working towards increasing the immunization coverage of children in the country to 95%. RITM has been instrumental in achieving this goal.
RITM is designated as the national storage and distributor of vaccines for the National Immunization Program (NIP) and National Rabies Prevention and Control Program of DOH. RITM has been distributing vaccines to more than 40 government health offices all over the Philippines since 2003. The BMD-SDD warehouse has a net volume capacity of 190,000 liters of vaccines and currently houses 5.8 million doses.
RITM also distributes anti-venom against Philippine cobra (Naja philippinensis) to health care facilities nationwide. The anti-venom is manufactured locally by the BMD.
