Global Update – Covid-19

Globally, 38,276,946 cases of COVID-19 were reported from December 2020 to January 29, 2021. All regions reported a decline in new cases except the Western Pacific Region. This downward trend is largely attributed to relative reductions in case incidence in several countries that contributed the highest numbers in recent months. During the same period, around 722,643 deaths have been reported. Europe, South-East Asia and Western Pacific regions showed a decrease in new deaths compared to last week.

Ebola Outbreak Confirmed Cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Since the start of the epidemic, the cumulative number of cases is 3416, of which 3297 are confirmed and 119 probable. In total, there were 2240 deaths (2121 confirmed and 119 probable) and 1142 healed.

Report of Referred Samples

A total of 6,178 samples were received at RITM from different Disease Reporting Unit (DRUs) all overt the country based on diseases and syndromes under the Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (PIDSR) and local national outbreak response. The samples received this week is 13% lower compare to last week (5,995). The highest number of samples (1,291, 21%) were received last June 9, 2021.
