About the course

Many institutions conduct research and surveillance programs addressing the public health burden of diseases and health threats like MERS CoV, Ebola and ZIka virus. The activities mostly include laboratory-based disease outbreak investigations involving human and animals, development of diagnostic kits and other diagnostic procedures, production of vaccines and biological, training and technology transfer and surveillance of infectious disease-causing agents that pose significant health threat to the public. Most laboratories have the appropriate facilities and laboratory safety equipment. Continuing training and updating of best practices are necessary to process, screen, identity and confirm routine and special, exotic or unknown infectious microbial agents is necessary in occupational health and safety programs.
